At eight or nine months, an infant can explore putting a wooden egg in a cup and taking it out. Putting a ball in a cup is a new experience, as the child has to turn the cup upside down to remove the ball. Putting a cube in a box is even more difficult, as it is necessary to align the corners of the box and the cube to succeed.
